Prince Albert Parkland hosts 2017 Health Excellence Awards ceremony.

Eight individuals and three teams were recognized for their commitment to quality, safe health care services at the Prince Albert Parkland Regional Health Authority’s 2017 Health Excellence Awards ceremony and banquet on May 18, 2017.

“It takes a strong team of dedicated individuals to ensure we are able to deliver quality, safe health care services for the people of Prince Albert Parkland and Saskatchewan,” said Bevra Fee, Prince Albert Parkland RHA board vice-chairperson. “Tonight, we recognized the contributions of individuals and teams from a variety of program areas – hospitals, special care homes, home care, public health, medical social work, food services, volunteer coordinators, and administration. The award recipients have each demonstrated a strong commitment to finding ways to make Saskatchewan’s health care system stronger and more responsive to the people we serve.”

The 2017 Health Excellence Award recipients are:

    • Continuing Care Aides Team, Home Care – Prince Albert
    • Gord Hein, Patient Care Coordinator Unit, Victoria Hospital
    • Ria Wicks, Operating Room Attendant, Victoria Hospital
    • Carol Gregoryk, Vice-President Integrated Health Services
    • Cecile Hunt, Chief Executive Officer
  • Better Teams
    • Birchview Home staff, Birch Hills
    • Volunteer Services staff, Prince Albert
  • Better Value
    • Michelle Herbst-Sutor, Nursing Unit Manager, Herb Bassett Home
  • Lifetime Achievement
    • Darlene Batty, Director Long-Term Care
    • Janet Carrier, Dietary Supervisor, Victoria Hospital

“The focus on continuous improvement throughout the organization, and hearing the voice of patients and their families, ensures that the system is never satisfied with being good enough,” Fee said. “The focus is to improve the experience of our patients, long-term care residents and community clients. We want to make Saskatchewan’s Healthcare System great – with continuous efforts to improve for the sake of our patients.”

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Excellence Awards are sponsored by the Regional Health Authority’s board of directors. Nominations are made by colleagues, physicians, and community members. A selection committee evaluates the nominations based on set criteria and scoring tool. The selection committee includes representatives of Prince Albert Parkland’s board of directors, management, staff, and patient and family representatives.
