The Saskatchewan Healthcare Management System utilizes tools to promote continuous quality improvement. These efforts include improvements for patient safety, quality and access in all program areas. Funding from the Government of Saskatchewan was provided to plan for the redevelopment of the Victoria Hospital. The process being used to develop the design and plan is called “3P”, which stands for production preparation process. It uses principles focusing on the flows and wastes in a facility to develop an optimal design. Three 3P events were held between January 2014 and May 2015, bringing together staff members, physicians, partners, and patient representatives to look at the how to best design new and renovated space at the Victoria Hospital.
Healthy Quality Council
Saskatchewan's Health Quality Council was created by government in 2002, in response to a recommendation from Commissioner Ken Fyke in his report “Caring for Medicare: Sustaining a Quality System.” Saskatchewan was the first province in Canada to establish a Quality Council.
